One of my major passions is cooking ethnic recipes. This site offers exciting information about cooking, food, wine, and ethnic recipes from all over the world. We'll be discussing delicious international recipes, food facts and lots of geographical information about the origin food.

I started cooking when I was just ten years old. I have since worked with food my entire life. From owning my own restaurant or catering to planning exclusive hors' dourvres parties, I have always had a food passion.

The first ethnic food recipe I ever made was lasagna. I made it for my family when I was thirteen years old. I learned to make lasagna in Home Economics class and brought the recipe home. It called for three tablespoons of basil. The home economics teacher neglected to tell us the difference in fresh basil and dried. The first few bites of the lasagna were pretty good, but that basil certainly got on our nerves after awhile. My cooking skills have, hopefully, picked up since then!

I learned a lot from my grandmother up north who was from southern Italy and my grandmother from the south who cooks genuine "soul food". She's from North Carolina and I just visited her a couple of weeks ago. Approaching ninety years old, she made a meal of corn meal encrusted fish, macaroni and cheese, collard greens and grilled corn bread. She hasn't lost her touch. It was great.

The first ethnic foods I tried to make were Mexican and Chinese food recipes. I always had a "food passion" for what everyone else was cooking and eating. Whomever I talk to, I want to know how they make their food. This holds especially true for food from other countries.

I have learned to make Polish, German and Hungarian foods from living in the Pittsburgh area. There are wonderful cooks of that ethnicity from all around. I worked for a Greek man who taught me loads of information about Greek food. My last culinary expertise came from my neighbors upstairs who are Indian. Although I have dabbled in Indian foods, they have taught me about preparing Indian food the hot and spicy way!
